Zenith: One of Watchmaking's Most Epic Stories? During my visit to the watch fair at CH Premier Jewelers in Valley Fair, I was immediately drawn to the Zenith watches. But what really caught my attention was the story behind the brand. A conversation with their client specialist introduced me to Zenith's remarkable history, from its founding in Switzerland in 1865 to the legendary El Primero chronograph and the challenges of the Quartz Crisis. One part of the story really stood out: Charles Vermot, the watchmaker who preserved the tools and technical knowledge needed to bring the El Primero back to life. Zenith's journey is a reminder that watchmaking isn't just about the watches themselves. It's also about the people, engineering, and history behind them. I'm still learning about the world of watches, and Zenith is a brand I'll be keeping on my radar.
