FGM INITIATION IN SIERRA LEONE: 2 GIRLS DEAD, 7 TRAPPED IN FGM SHRINE, INITIATORS ABSCOND.

In a shocking turn of events, two young girls lost their lives after undergoing female genital mutilation in two villages within Kambia district in Sierra Leone. Salamatu Jalloh, a 13-year-old girl from Kabailor village, and Kadiatu Bangura, a 17-year-old girl from Bubuya village, tragically passed away following the initiation process. Some of the Soweis (Initiators) and other family members have abscond whilst others are in police custody as investigations proceed.
