Ted Morgan — Midnight Switchblade / Trumpet with Play With Jazz Quartet

Ted Morgan — Midnight Switchblade An Original Hard Bop & Soul Jazz Session *Ted Morgan • Play With Jazz Quartet* Step into the late-night world of vintage hard bop and soulful 1960s jazz. Midnight Switchblade is an original instrumental jazz session featuring Ted Morgan, a fictional trumpet artist created for the Play With Jazz project, accompanied by the Play With Jazz Quartet. Inspired by the spirit of classic hard bop, blues-driven soul jazz, and the infectious grooves of the 1960s jazz scene, this collection brings together punchy trumpet lines, swinging rhythms, deep upright bass, and expressive piano improvisation. From shuffle-driven grooves and earthy blues phrases to energetic hard bop solos and late-night minor blues, each track explores a different shade of the quartet's sound. The music looks back to the golden age of small-group jazz while introducing original melodies, arrangements, and a distinct musical identity. Ted Morgan and the Play With Jazz Quartet are fictional artist identities developed for this creative music project. The music is created with AI-assisted tools and human creative direction, drawing inspiration from the sound, spirit, and aesthetics of vintage acoustic jazz. No vocals, no unnecessary embellishments — just trumpet, piano, upright bass, and drums working together through the timeless language of acoustic jazz. Whether you're listening closely to the improvisations or letting the music accompany a late-night drive, a quiet evening, or a relaxed afternoon, we hope this session brings you into the intimate atmosphere of a classic jazz club. *Tracklist* 00:00 Desert Crawl 03:51 Saturday Shuffle 07:09 Copper Street 11:22 Late Night Notebook 14:51 The Long Turn 18:03 Sleight of Hand 21:33 Dusk at the Van Gelder Room 24:53 Sunday Rattle 28:22 Midnight Switchblade 32:19 Rear Mirror 35:44 Mesa Drums 38:50 Easy Money All compositions are original works created for this Play With Jazz Quartet session.
