Japan's Taking Down the Giant Gundam at Odaiba

After nine years standing outside DiverCity Tokyo Plaza, Odaiba’s life-size Unicorn Gundam is finally coming down. The public display officially ended on August 31, 2026, but the actual dismantling has only now begun. I’ve been watching the site for days as fences, equipment and work crews moved in — and today a large crane finally arrived beside the 19.7-meter-tall mobile suit. I headed to Odaiba to see what happens next. Will they remove the head, arms or entire upper body first? And how do you dismantle — and transport — a giant Gundam through Tokyo?
