How Jackass Broke Filmmaking

Jackass shouldn’t have been this successful. But against all odds, Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-O, and company ensured that Jackass would forever etch its name into pop culture history. From a filmmaking perspective, they completely broke the mold of what a theatrical film could even be. What started as skate tapes, stunt reels, and prank videos somehow became a box office hit. And in the process, they redefined what audiences were willing to show up for in theaters.
