Derrick’s political career is getting serious. He’s promoted to Vice President and is now just one step away from reaching the very top. To celebrate, he heads out with his old love interest Dominique as their rekindled relationship continues. Lucas, meanwhile, decides it’s finally time to be honest with Patricia. He confesses how he really feels and tells her he’d rather remain friends, but she doesn’t take the news very well. As if that wasn’t enough, a nasty rumor about Lucas starts spreading around school, leaving him with another mess to clean up. With Maura’s birthday approaching, she seems to be looking at life a little differently. She pays Derrick a visit at the houseboat to make amends, and for once, the past stays in the past. By the end of their conversation, the two have become Best Friends and the old “Ex” label between them is finally gone. Lucas later throws Maura a pool party for her birthday, bringing together old friends and new ones for a celebration that turns out to be a big success. He also manages to clear up the rumors surrounding him and finally put that drama behind him.
