Westover shocks Cairo, 14-9

On Friday, September 27, 2013, the Westover Comprehensive High School Patriots accomplished something no team had done in almost four years: defeat the Cairo High School Syrupmakers in region play. Thanks to two key offensive drives, as well as a solid defensive effort, the Patriots shocked the Syrupmakers, 14-9, in a Georgia High School Association (GHSA) Region 1-AAAA game played at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany, Georgia. The Syrupmakers last loss in region play came on October 9, 2009, when they lost to Peach County, 24-13.
