making soap from wood ashes

I made some crude soap from wood ashes and lard It did not look too pretty but it worked and I learned a couple of things about soapmaking the way it was possibly done in the pioneer days. I only made a very small batch for experimenting but it would be easy enough to increase the amount produced.
