Systematic Theology: Why Every Christian Should Study It

Every Christian is already a theologian. The question is whether we're doing theology carefully, biblically, and faithfully. What exactly is systematic theology? Why should Christians study it? And how can we study Christian doctrine without becoming proud, cold, or merely academic? In this introduction to systematic theology, Pastor Richard Louka explores why theology matters for every Christian, not just pastors, professors, or seminary students. We look at what it means to ask what the whole Bible teaches about a subject, why Christians cannot avoid theology, and how a deeper understanding of Scripture should shape the way we live. If you've ever wondered whether theology is really necessary, or thought that Christians should simply "read the Bible" rather than study doctrine, this session is designed to help you think more carefully about those questions. Systematic theology is not about collecting information for its own sake. It is about knowing what God has revealed in His Word and learning to live in light of it. The goal is not merely a fuller head, but a life increasingly shaped by truth, humility, obedience, and worship. Whether you're new to theology or have studied Christian doctrine for years, this introduction provides a foundation for our study together and points us toward a deeper understanding of God's Word.
