When I die, I hope I'm buried in an airgrave, cause then I could still get to watch all the living people doing their live people stuff. Maybe that's what ghosts are, just people buried in air. But none of this nonsense has anything to do with Airgrave for the PlayStation. Made by Santos and released in Japan in 1996, this is a vertical scrolling shoot-'em-up, heavy on the shoot, light on the up. Actually, it's got up AND down, as you have to destroy air and ground targets. Sometimes the ground targets are on water, though. And sometimes they are in the air, but at a lower height. OK, so, air, and lower than the highest things in the air targets. Was that convoluted enough? I hope so. Why state things clearly when you can make a maze of words? There's nothing really too special about Airgrave, it's a fairly standard shooter, but it is also a very solid shooter! The action can get intense, the graphics are good, and it's got an excellent soundtrack. On a couple rare occasions, mainly on one specific boss battle, there's a hefty bit of slowdown, but for the most part, the action is stable and smooth. This game has 8 stages, and 4 characters to choose from with varying capabilities. A somewhat overlooked but fun shooter. Unless it isn't overlooked. Maybe people look at it a lot. I just don't seem to hear about it much. Airgrave!
