Hydraulic jack failure mode: Aircraft Jack application

Hope this video might help someone. I encountered an unexpected failure mode in this commercial hydraulic jack. The jack is very similar to many others. It is a style often used for engine hoists but this one has a flat base instead of a clevis base. It is unmodified other than the two bolts that hold it to the base of the jack stand. As you can see in the video, there's a surprise failure mode that could be quite inconvenient at best and downright dangerous at worst, depending upon various circumstances.
