Alex Boldin, a steel-string fingerstyle player, picks up one of Hozen's first nylon-string Crossovers, with African blackwood back and sides. Hozen explains why he builds only crossovers and not full classical guitars, and why a classical guitar with a cutaway and a pickup isn't a true crossover. The 48mm nut, compared with 52mm on a typical classical, lets steel-string players reach the whole neck naturally. It also comes with Hozen's ergonomic features: armrest, bevels and side port. Alex's verdict: warmer, softer, less tension, and "the perfect way to enter" the nylon world from steel string.
