It is located near Assi Ghat and is dedicated to Lord Surya (the Sun God). The word "Lolark" comes from Sanskrit: Lola = trembling or swinging Arka = the Sun Together, it refers to the vibrant or radiant Sun. The kund is a deep rectangular water tank with steep stone steps leading down to the water. It is believed to be over a thousand years old and has been an important pilgrimage site since ancient times.
