In the highlands of Bali, the hands that have tended vanilla vines for decades are now growing something more opportunity.
Every morning begins with prayer and quiet laughter before these women step into the fields. Guided by knowledge passed down through generations, they honor each vanilla bean with a ritual older than any textbook. In these fields, time moves at nature's own pace and from that patient dedication, something truly precious is born.
Through the Women Vanilla Farmers Empowerment Program, we work alongside these farmers to strengthen never replace the wisdom they already carry. Together we introduced good harvesting practices aligned with global food safety standards: the proper use of personal protective equipment (aprons, hairnets, gloves) and harvesting techniques that protect hygiene, quality, and traceability from the very start of the value chain.
Empowerment here is not only about producing more. It is about creating opportunities, improving quality, and ensuring that the people behind every harvest have the knowledge and confidence to grow alongside the vanilla they cultivate.
This is what a more sustainable, competitive, and dignified vanilla sector looks like rooted in tradition, reaching toward the world.
