Erik Rutan is arguably one the best (if not THE best) metal guitarists of all time. His work with Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse is truly off the charts in terms of execution both live and in the studio, but in my opinion Rutan really shines with his unique and groundbreaking work in Hate Eternal, his own band. It took me months to get this to a performance level. Feel free to compare my approach to Erik's, as our playing styles are slightly different. That being said, I grew a lot learning this song and several of Rutan's techniques and ideas are starting to pop up in my own playing and writing. That's the point of learning other guitarists material, it's a total paradigm shift and an inside view into how another player views the instrument and music itself. Horns up! Enjoy!
