The Reality of Studying in Mauritania 🇲🇷 | What I Haven’t Told You

For months, I have been sharing my journey as a Talib al ilm studying in Mauritania the Qur’an, Arabic, the desert, camels, and the beautiful moments that come with seeking knowledge. But I feel like I owe you all a more honest and complete picture. The reality is that studying in Mauritania is not always easy, and it is not always as comfortable or beautiful as what you may see in a short video or vlog. There are hardships, extreme heat, difficult living conditions, and other challenges that students can face. In this video, I share some of my personal experiences and the realities that I and other students have encountered while living and studying here. Please note: This video is not an attack on the scholars of Mauritania, the Mauritanian people, or the natives of this country. It is also not intended to discourage anyone from coming to seek beneficial knowledge. There are many good people here, and every person’s experience is different. My intention is simply to give you a more balanced and honest picture the beauty and the hardship so that anyone considering this journey can come with realistic expectations, patience, and, most importantly, the right intention.
