Štanjel Castle and Ferrari Garden. Slovenia

Štanjel is one of the oldest settlements in Karst region, built on the picturesque terraces of Turn Hill, which has unique panoramic views. The fortified village was named after the patron Saint Daniel. Due to its good strategic position Turn Hill was inhabited already in prehistoric times. To this day, the remains of a Roman fortress called Gledanica have been preserved, while the settlement with houses was built on terraces in the Middle Ages. Štanjel was first mentioned in written sources in 15th century and was walled to protect against the invasion of the Turks.
