Latpanchar is also known as bird watcher's paradise. You can find more than 300 species of birds. Hornbills are the main attractions of the place. It is located in the Kurseong subdivision of the Darjeeling district. Located 45 kms from New Jalpaiguri railway station, you can take a share taxi till Kalijhora which would cost you around Rs. 250 per head. From Kalijhora, the distance to Latpanchar is 14 kms and the road is is really bad condition. Reserve car form Kalijhora to Latpanchar will cost you Rs. 1000/- without that there is no way to reach Latpanchar. It offers a very comfortable stay and the wonderful homely ambience. The entire day can be spent for bird watching in nursery, flower garden and Sanjay Rai's hide. You can visit places like Ahaldara view point, Namthing pokhri, Mahananda Wildlife sanctuary, Sittong which are in the range of 5 kms from Latpanchar.
