MENOUBA JUBA & SELENE INSPIRATION On a mild summer morning, MENOUBA contemplates the majestic tomb on top of a green hill facing the azure blue of the Mediterranean. In this tomb lies Cleopatra Selene, only daughter of the most famous lovers of antiquity: Mark Antony and Cleopatra. She was named after the goddess of the moon in Greek mythology. Orphaned at the age of 10, she was raised in Rome, near her future husband and king of Mauritania, a Roman territory in central Algeria and northeastern Morocco. Her husband would be Juba II, son of Juba I, king of the Berbers. Born in Hippo in Numidia, now Annaba, a city in the north-east of Algeria, he was an orphan just like her. A hostage of war after his father's defeat against Caesar, he was taken to Rome, where he was raised by Octavia, sister of the future emperor Augustus. Two identical destinies that met to make of their differences the solid base on which they built their love. They ruled over the Berbers in the land of North Africa and they made the culture and the arts flourish there, the remains of which are still present around the city of Cherchell or CESAREE. From this moment of meditation on the greatness of these two destinies was born a collection with Byzantine, Greco-Roman, Carthaginian and Egyptian influences on a Berber background. Each piece is set with embroidery inspired by mosaics to sublimate goddesses and nymphs straight out of the imagination of the designer. يوبا وسيليني في صباح يوم مشمس ودافئ من أيام الصيف، كانت منوبة تتأمل القبر العظيم الذي يعلو تلة مخضرة تلوح في الأفق الأزرق للبحر المتوسط. هناك، كانت ترقد كليوباترا سيليني، البنت الوحيدة للعشيقين الأكثر شهرة خلال العصور القديمة : مارك أنطوان وكليوباترا. ومنوبة هو اسم آلهة القمر في الأساطير اليونانية. وقد نشأت يتيمة الأبوين منذ بلوغها سن العاشرة في روما بالقرب من زوجها لاحقا وملك موريطانيا، وهي الأراضي الرومانية الواقعة بوسط الجزائر وشمال شرق المغرب. وتزوجت من يوبا الثاني ابن يوبا الأول ملك البربر. وولد يوبا بهيبون بنوميديا المسماة حالية عنابة، تلك المدينة الواقعة شمالي شرق الجزائر. وقد نشأ يتيم الأبوين مثله مثل منوبة. وقد كان أسير حرب بعد انهزام أبيه ضد قيصر، ثم تم ترحيله إلى روما حيث تربى في كنف أوكتافيا، شقيقة الإمبراطور أوغسطس. هما إذا مساران متشابهان التقيا لتشكل نقاط اختلافهما القاعدة الصلبة التي أسسا عليها حبا أسطوريا. وقد حكما البربر بشمال إفريقيا حيث نشرا الثقافة والفنون والتي لازالت معالمها شامخة بمدينة شرشال أو سيزاري. وانطلاقا من هذه القصة الأسطورية لشخصيتين عظيمتين، جادت قريحة المصمµمة بمجموعة مستوحاة من التاريخ البيزنطي واليوناني الروماني وشيء من قرطاج ومصر في لوحة فنية بربرية مبدعة. وكل قطعة من هذه المجموعة تم طرزها في شكل فسيفسائي لتستهوي الآلهات والحوريات التي تجتاح مخيلة المصمّمة. JUBA ET SELENE Par une douce matinée d’été, MENOUBA contemple le majestueux tombeau culminant le haut d’une colline verdoyante face au bleu azur de la Méditerranée. Dans ce tombeau repose Cléopâtre Séléné, fille unique des amants les plus célèbres de l’antiquité : Marc-Antoine et Cléopâtre. Elle porte le nom de la déesse de la lune dans la mythologie grecque. Orpheline a 10 ans, elle fut élevée à Rome, près de son futur époux et rois de Mauritanie, territoire romain du centre de l’Algérie et nord-est du Maroc. Son époux sera Juba II, fils de Juba I er, rois des berbère.  Né à Hippone en Numidie, actuelle Annaba, ville du nord-est Algérien, il était orphelin tout comme elle. Otage de guerre après la défaite de son père contre César, il fut emmené a Rome, ou il a été élevé par Octavie, sœur du futur empereur Auguste. Deux destins identiques qui se sont rencontrés pour faire de leurs différences la solide base sur laquelle ils construisirent leur amour. Ils régnèrent sur les berbères en terre d’Afrique du nord et ils y ont fait fleurir la culture et les arts dont les vestiges sont encore présents autour de la ville de Cherchell ou CESAREE. De ce moment de méditation sur la grandeur de ces deux destins est née une collection aux influences byzantines, gréco-romaines, carthaginoises et égyptiennes sur une toile de fond berbère. Chaque pièce est sertie de broderies inspirées des mosaïques pour sublimer des déesses et des nymphes sorties tout droit de l’imaginaire de la créatrice.
