A dot runs around each shape at a constant speed. Its sideways position is the left speaker, its height is the right speaker, and the loop repeats 110 times a second. That's the whole rule, so every sound you hear is the shape itself. Listen for the pattern: smooth curves sound pure, corners add a buzz, the ratios inside Lissajous figures and roses sound like musical intervals (3:2 is a perfect fifth), and fractals edge toward noise. 0:00 Circle, square, star, snowflake 0:14 50 shapes → sound 0:17 Smooth curves 2:22 Corners 4:37 Ratios 6:52 Fractals 8:57 All 50 How the sound is made: pure numpy synthesis from each outline. No samples, recordings or music. The only processing is removing the centre offset, band-limiting so nothing aliases (fractals get a gentler ceiling so they don't hurt on headphones), and one volume setting per shape so every shape is equally loud. Lissajous, rose and spirograph curves run on their own two-rotation clock; every other shape is traced at constant speed along its outline. Headphones recommended: left and right carry different signals. Which shape should I turn into sound next? #math #sound #oscilloscope #fractals #geometry
