🚨 MARION COUNTY CASEWORKER CAUGHT WITH FENTANYL ON THE JOB 🚨
Caseworker arrested for fentanyl use! Bodycam footage captured every moment after 27-year-old Erica Funfgeld, a Marion County Children Services employee, as she was pulled over in Bucyrus, Ohio on January 30th, 2026. Officers stopped her black SUV following reports it had been swerving on Route 4 and nearly caused a crash. What they found on her and inside that vehicle put officers themselves at risk.
She was on a scheduled home visit when it all fell apart.
🚗 The Traffic Stop
Officers found Funfgeld near Home Circle Drive, visibly lethargic with slow speech, saliva around her mouth, and burnt marks on her fingers.
🔍 The Search
A pat-down and K9 alert led to a smoking pipe, two bags of fentanyl, and prescription pills not prescribed to her — loose powder had spread across the dashboard.
💬 The Admission
Funfgeld told officers she sourced the fentanyl from Columbus and said she no longer got high from it — describing it as a habit she desperately wanted to quit.
⚠️ Officer Exposure
One officer who searched her pockets bare-handed was sent for medical evaluation after possible fentanyl contact; medics were called to the scene.
🚔 The Arrest
Funfgeld was charged with drug possession, possession of a Schedule I or II substance, drug paraphernalia, and OVI. Marion CPS terminated her employment and contacted four families whose cases she had managed.
The footage shows how quickly a routine traffic complaint can reveal something far more serious — and how fentanyl exposure remains a real danger for officers on scene.
