It's night in New York and you're curled up behind the sofa in a street-level apartment. A candle flickers in a glass jar on the windowsill beside a steaming mug, a lamp glows warmly by the bookshelf, and just beyond the glass the wet street goes about its night: taxis sliding past, blurred pedestrians, neon and bokeh lights, and steam rising from a sidewalk grate. What's in the sound (no music, no voices, no tonal whine or buzz): • Muffled city heard through the glass: a soft, low-passed wash of traffic with slow swells • Occasional soft car pass-bys, very quiet • A very rare, very faraway and muffled siren, extremely soft • Warm, quiet room tone and a soft hush • No clock ticking, no piano What's moving on screen: the candle flame flickering, steam curling from the mug, steam drifting from the street grate, city lights twinkling and shifting, soft light sweeps as taxis pass and blurred pedestrians crossing the window. Everything inside the room stays still and calm. Good for: sleep, relaxing, studying, reading, focus work, meditation, or the feeling of being warm and safe inside while the city carries on outside. This is a bonus video in our seasonal ambience series. The audio is original and procedurally generated for this video (a long, slowly varying soundscape that does not repeat obviously). The video is a seamless animated still. If this helps you settle in, a like or subscribe is genuinely appreciated, and comments on where you'd like us to go next are always welcome.
