The beleaguered US Airborne hold out on the outskirts of Bastogne to prevent the German Volksgrendiers from advancing across the battlefield and capturing a key objective from the US forces. Using the Probe scenario from the Too Fat Lardies new Chain of Command 2 book, with the enhanced 'Reduced Strength Platoons' from the At the Sharp End Campaign guide we go head to head in the bleak winter of '44 with an attacker and defender. US Airborne are set to defend as the German Grenadiers probe deep into the US lines, will the US hold on until re-enforcements arrive, or will the Germans push the airborne back and capture the key position to deliver a mighty blow to the allied force. …who will win, watch and see! The Chain of Command 2: The Probe scenario involves a military engagement between Germans and British forces during World War II. Key points include: The scenario emphasizes objectives and the new Final Countdown mechanism, which adds an element of jeopardy and the need for the attack to push the attack within the given time limit. Both players must navigate through various terrain, including ruins, snow, woods and stone walls, to achieve their objectives. The scenario is designed to test tactical decisions and the effectiveness of different troop formations and the military strategic and tactical prowess of both forces.
