Honoring Service Through Care: Home Care Benefits for Eligible Veterans What home care benefits are available to veterans—and how can eligible veterans access services that may allow them to remain safely and independently in their own homes? At the September 16, 2026 meeting of the Rotary Club of San Dimas, Lauren Torres of Visiting Angels Glendora discussed Veterans Administration (VA) benefits and services available to eligible veterans and their families, with a special focus on home care. Many veterans and their families may be unaware of programs that can provide qualifying veterans with home care services covered through VA benefits. Lauren explains available resources, eligibility considerations, and the process veterans and their families can use to explore these benefits. The presentation also covers non-medical home care services available through Visiting Angels Glendora, including companionship, transportation, meal preparation, medication reminders, personal care assistance, light housekeeping, and support for people living with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, and other chronic illnesses. Founded in 2002, Visiting Angels Glendora serves seniors and families throughout the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding communities, including San Dimas, with a focus on helping people maintain their independence and quality of life at home. This program is especially valuable for veterans, military families, caregivers, seniors, and anyone helping a veteran navigate available VA resources and home care options.
