A Nissan Patrol had got stuck in very deep soft sand on the beach of the Arabian Gulf coast. We winched it backwards a short way to get it out of the hole it was digging. Once the chassis was clear, we pushed it a little as it drove forward onto firmer sand. The attachment point was not ideal, but we were not using great force and the combination of that and a synthetic rope that does not store energy, it would not have been an issue if the shackle had come loose.
