What Happens to Your Suitcase After Check-In?

Your suitcase disappears at airport check-in. But how does it actually reach your plane—and what happens when you have a connecting flight? Follow the hidden journey of checked luggage through an airport baggage handling system. From the barcode on your baggage tag to security screening, conveyor belts, sorting, early baggage storage and aircraft loading, discover the operations passengers rarely see. We also explain what baggage tracking updates actually tell you, why a suitcase may stop moving on purpose, and why reaching your connecting gate doesn't mean your bag has completed its transfer. Airport equipment and procedures vary. This video follows an illustrative, typical journey rather than the exact layout of one airport.
