The Pursuit of Happyness (2006): 22 Movie Secrets You Missed

A father raising his toddler in shelters while training as a stockbroker, and a Hollywood version that changed more of his story than most viewers realize. This video covers 22 behind-the-scenes and true-story secrets from The Pursuit of Happyness, the drama starring Will Smith as Chris Gardner. It traces how a 20/20 segment brought Gardner's life to Hollywood, why he first doubted Smith for the role, and how an Italian director who barely spoke English got the job. It explains how Gardner changed the famous basketball court speech, how Jaden Smith pushed his father to act more naturally, and how BART stations were dressed back to 1981. The video also compares the film with Gardner's real life: his son was 14 months old rather than five, the training program paid a monthly stipend, Linda combined two real women into one character, and the stained-clothes interview really happened. It ends with the box office run, the Oscar nomination and Gardner's own cameo in the final scene.
