The Standard Model is one of the most successful theories ever created, yet the closer physicists look, the more clearly its limits begin to appear. Tonight we descend beneath CERN into the Large Hadron Collider and follow some of the deepest unresolved problems in modern physics. We will see how the Higgs boson completed one extraordinary part of the theory while opening new questions, why neutrino mass proves the original Standard Model is incomplete, and why the universe contains far more matter than antimatter even though known physics cannot fully explain the imbalance. We will also explore dark matter, precision measurements of the muon, and the strange possibility that even the vacuum beneath everything may be more complicated than it appears. CERN has not discovered where reality literally stops making sense. It has helped reveal where our current rulebook stops being enough.
