Abner's March of 1775

To commemorate the 250th Anniversary of the beginning of the Revolutionary War, the Historical Society of Cheshire County has produced a short film based on the memoir of Cheshire County resident Abner Sanger (1739 -1822). A veteran of the French and Indian War, Abner joined other men from Cheshire County on the march to Boston in the wake of the battles of Lexington and Concord. Abner detailed this journey in his journal as well as in a 1818 letter to his son. Although Abner returned to New Hampshire without joining the fight and remained neutral for the remainder of the conflict, his recollections open a window to the early days of the American Revolution.
