Morning light spills on the kitchen tiles
Cartoon voices, coffee, rehearsed smiles
Little hands pulling at my sleeve
Asking for a version of me I can’t believe
Your eyes meet mine, searching for warmth
But I’m a ghost in a well-cut form
I kiss your cheek like a practiced line
And leave my heart somewhere undefined
Do you feel me fading while I’m here?
Standing close, but disappearing clear
If love is fire, why am I this cold?
Holding you, but losing what we hold
Dinner plates and quiet TV glow
We talk in ways we already know
“Are you okay?” you softly plead
I nod like truth is something I can feed
There’s a weight I bury in routine
Under laughter, under everything seen
You reach for me in the afterlight
But I’m receding farther every night
Do you feel me fading while I’m here?
Standing close, but disappearing clear
If love is fire, why am I this cold?
Holding you, but losing what we hold
I hear our child laughing down the hall
A fragile echo I can’t recall
What it meant before this hollow grew
Before I learned how to not break through
I built these walls to keep me safe
Now I’m trapped in their quiet wake
You say my name like it used to mean
Something alive inside of me
Do you feel me fading while I’m here?
Standing close, but disappearing clear
If love is fire, why am I this cold?
Holding you, but losing what we hold
If I could bleed, would it bring me back?
Or am I lost in this silent black?
I’m terrified of what I’ve become
A distant father, a loveless son
Do you feel me fading while I’m here?
Standing close, but disappearing clear
If love is fire, why am I this cold?
Holding you, but losing what we hold
