Geoff Crammond's Formula One Grand Prix running natively on Windows 11 with gp64, a small DOS PC emulator I've written in Rust.
In this video two copies of gp64 run side by side on one PC and connect through their emulated modems: one dials, the other answers, and then we race. Both copies stay in sync for the whole race.
gp64 runs on Windows 11 and macOS (Apple Silicon). Drop it into your existing F1GP folder and run it. It finds F1GP.BAT or GP.EXE and starts the game. It contains no original game code or resources, so you'll need your own copy of F1GP.
What it emulates: VGA graphics, AdLib music and sound, keyboard and mouse, a null-modem serial cable, and a Hayes-style modem. The links are carried over TCP on your local network, and copies find each other by themselves. Press F12 for the menu: video scalers, recording (with my own VP9 and Opus encoders), and serial or modem links.
