Should I Stay in Ecuador? | A Personal Update From Manta

Where have I been, and what’s happening with the channel? In this video, I wanted to give everyone a personal update from Manta, Ecuador. I’ve received quite a few messages asking if I’m okay, why I haven’t been making videos, and what I’ve been up to. The good news is that I’m doing okay. My shoulder has improved considerably since my fall, and I recently returned from a trip to the United States where I visited the VA and began a new treatment program for my tinnitus. But I’ve also been doing a lot of thinking. After years of sharing my experiences about retiring in Ecuador, living in Manta, and adjusting to life abroad, I think it may be time to step back for a while, regroup, and rethink the direction of this channel. I’m also considering some bigger personal questions: Do I stay in Manta? Move somewhere else in Ecuador? Or eventually return to the United States? Those are questions I haven’t answered yet. If you’re planning to retire in Ecuador or move to Manta, don’t let my personal situation discourage you. Manta continues to grow, new construction and businesses are coming, and there are still plenty of reasons people choose to make this part of Ecuador their home. My channel has never been about telling people how they should live. I simply share what I experience — the good, the bad, and everything in between. If you have questions about moving to Ecuador, retiring abroad, living in Manta, healthcare, insurance, or everyday expat life, leave them in the comments. I may put together a future Q&A video and answer as many as I can. Thanks for watching, and thanks especially to everyone who has written to check on me. I appreciate it.
