Le métro de Londres est plus vieux en Europe ouvert le 10 janvier 1863 entre Paddington et Farrington elle fut la première ligne du métro de Londres. Le concept de la construction du métro est à peu près similaire à celle du Métro Parisien on creuse on pose les voies et on recouvre. La première ligne parcourt une distance d’environ 6 Km. En 1884 la Circles line est ligne en rocades voit le jour avant que les restes des lignes ne voient le jour.
