“You’re Taking On The Whole Island” | Jewels Game 1 Preview | Tasmania Jewels

One sleep until history. Ahead of the Tasmania Jewels’ first-ever WNBL game, captain Darcee Garbin, CEO Trent Jacobs, WNBL COO Justin Nelson and Head Coach Claudia Brassard fronted the media to talk about what tomorrow night means for the club, the players and the whole state. Darcee talks about balancing nerves and pride, keeping the group level-headed, and the next-woman-up mindset with injuries in the squad. She also shares her message to the girls before they run out in front of a sold-out crowd: embrace it and soak it all in. Trent Jacobs talks about the work it took to bring the Jewels to life, becoming one club with two teams, and the ongoing conversation with government about a bigger home for Tasmanian basketball. Justin Nelson talks about a record-breaking membership base and the Jewels raising the bar for the league. He also explains why coming to Tasmania means taking on the whole island. Claudia Brassard talks about the intensity and effort the group wants to be known for, and representing Tassie the way Tassie deserves.
