First Impressions of the Dolomites | Cortina’s Cima Tofana Gondola

Benvenuti! Welcome! I am spending the next month in Italy hiking the Alta Via 1 and exploring some of the historic cities in this beautiful country. I’m also taking this opportunity to brush up on my Italian! In this video, I make the journey from the Venice airport to the mountain town of Cortina d’Ampezzo, which I’ve also heard referred to as the “Queen of the Dolomites.” She’ll also be the host of the 2026 Olympics, and you’ll see many signs of construction in this video in preparation for the winter games. I stayed at the Hotel Olympia in the heart of downtown. I could walk out my door and be in the midst of the shops and restaurants that the town has to offer! The goal of my time in Cortina was to get over jet lag and rest up before meeting up with the hiking crew and heading further north into the Alps to the start of the AV1.
