Lachung to Siliguri: Never Come Here! 😳 Our Worst Experience

What was supposed to be a beautiful ride from Lachung to Siliguri turned into one of the toughest motorcycle journeys we've ever experienced. My wife and I started our ride from Lachung and within a couple of hours reached Mangan for breakfast. The weather looked manageable, with only light rain in the beginning. However, everything changed after crossing Mangan towards the Dikchu-Gangtok highway section. Due to continuous rainfall, heavy truck movement, landslides, mud, and severely damaged roads, a 15 km stretch became almost impossible to cross. What should have taken a few minutes took us nearly 3.5 hours! The road had practically disappeared under mud, rocks, and deep ruts created by heavy vehicles. For most of the journey, I managed to ride through the extreme conditions on my Triumph Scrambler 400X, but eventually my wife had to walk nearly 7 km through the challenging terrain. The determination, teamwork, and mental strength required during this stretch were unbelievable. Many fellow travelers and locals were surprised to see a motorcycle making it through sections where even four-wheelers were struggling.
