Henry Wood Promenade Concert Prom No.24 16/8/1963

Sir Malcolm Sargent and the BBC Symphony Orchestra play Beethoven. The concert featured the Coriolan Overture and the First Piano Concerto in the first half and Vaughan Williams' 4th Symphony in the second half. The Transcription disc I have of the concert only features the Overture and the last two movements of the Concerto. The soloist for the Concerto is Stephen Bishop an American pianist who was to later become Stephen Kovacevich. He was only 22 when this perfomance took place. The other disc I have in relation to this concert features the last two movements of the V.W symphony. I am given to understand that the BBC have already put that peformance into the public domain anyway so I am content to leave it at that.
