How does a catamaran powered entirely by solar panels perform at the end of summer, when the sun is already providing significantly less energy? This is a report on a full day of sailing covering more than 50 nautical miles between the beautiful islands of Croatia. The system records solar energy output, engine performance, battery level, and cruising speed. The goal is to demonstrate that a boat powered without fossil fuels can certainly perform well even over long distances—and not just in the height of summer. The boat shown here is a custom design based on an old Richard Woods Mira 35 sailing catamaran, named Berenik-E. The video is in German with English subtitles.
