Iran’s Revolutionary Guards are threatening that if they are attacked again, they will use a new “game-changing weapon.” At the same time, Tehran claims Washington may be preparing to renew military operations after receiving support from countries in the region. CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper convened a secret meeting in Germany with the military chiefs of Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Jordan, and Egypt to discuss the war against Iran and regional coordination. President Trump says he is in the “decision-making phase” and warns that “big things” may happen soon. The United States is claiming a major achievement in the Strait of Hormuz after months of dangerous work underwater, in the air, and on the surface of the sea. CENTCOM says American forces helped move more than one billion barrels of oil and more than 2,000 commercial vessels safely through the strait under coordinated protection, while also preventing Iran from exporting oil. Washington is moving the chokehold from the sea to the skies. Starting September 23, the United States is warning airports and aviation companies around the world that anyone who refuels, services, lands, or sells tickets for sanctioned Iranian airlines could risk being cut off from the American dollar system. This is the next phase of Operation Economic Outcast. The Trump administration is proposing a 10 billion dollar regional energy fund with Gulf states to rebuild pipelines, refineries, and export routes damaged in the war — and to reduce dependence on the Strait of Hormuz. But the war is not over, and regional officials warn that there is no point rebuilding infrastructure if Iran can still destroy it with missiles and drones. While Hormuz slowly reopens, the next maritime battle is forming in Bab al-Mandab. The Houthis have declared a blockade on shipping connected to Saudi Arabia, while Saudi Arabia has increased airstrikes in Yemen. Britain is now sending RAF aerial refueling support to help Saudi aircraft stay in the air longer on defensive missions. Israel is watching closely as Iraq pressures Iranian-backed Shiite militias to disarm. The militias are rejecting the demand for now, and Israeli officials are concerned that after the ultimatum expires, these groups may try to “show strength” by firing drones or missiles toward Israel. The United States has opened a cross-continental investigation into whether crypto activity helped Iran bypass sanctions.
