Why Are Retro Games Getting So Expensive? Games that used to sit in bargain bins or sell for just a few dollars are now commanding prices that would have seemed crazy not that long ago. From Nintendo 64 and PlayStation to GameCube, PS2, Xbox and beyond, collecting older games is becoming an increasingly expensive hobby. In this video, I'm talking about the rising cost of retro gaming, why prices continue to climb, and what it means for those of us who actually want to collect and play these games. Is it simply nostalgia and supply and demand? Has social media helped drive prices higher? Are collectors competing with resellers and investors? And at what point does a game become too expensive to justify owning?
