We May Never See LAKE EYRE Like This Again | Big Lap Ep 3

We’re All 4 Good Wins, a family of four travelling Australia in our Patrol and Great Escape caravan, with no fixed address and plenty of Australia ahead of us. In Episode 3, we leave the Flinders Ranges behind and head further into the outback, travelling from Farina through Marree, along the Oodnadatta Track to William Creek, past Coober Pedy and eventually across the border into the Northern Territory. But the highlight of this episode has to be seeing Kati Thanda – Lake Eyre from the air. When we took our scenic flight from Marree, Lake Eyre was at its highest level since 1989. Seeing that much water stretching across the normally dry salt lake from above was something we won’t forget. Along the way we explore the abandoned town of Farina, stay behind the Marree Hotel, take on the Oodnadatta Track, camp at William Creek and have dinner at one of Australia’s most remote pubs. We make a quick fuel stop in Coober Pedy before continuing north to Curtin Springs, where the kids meet plenty of birds, including a very talkative cockatoo called Peek-a-Boo.
