Dikshitar examined his horoscope, concluded that Jupiter sat unfavourably, and composed a piece of music to propitiate the planet. The disciple sang it daily and recovered. That single composition grew into the Navagraha Kritis — nine works, one for each planet, each set in a specific raga. This is the raga Dikshitar assigned to Shani. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🪐 ABOUT SHANI & THIS RAGA ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ In Vedic astrology, Shani governs karma, discipline, delay and the lessons that arrive slowly. Sade Sati — Saturn's seven-and-a-half year passage — is the period most people fear and least understand. Shani is not a destroyer. He is the teacher who insists you do the work. Raga Yadukulakambhoji carries exactly that weight. It is a janya raga of Harikambhoji, associated with karuna rasa — sober compassion rather than sorrow. It moves slowly, refuses to hurry toward resolution, and settles rather than soars. Traditionally it is played on Saturdays, Shani's day. In the tradition, this raga is associated with: ✅ Patience during difficult or delayed periods ✅ Steadiness through Sade Sati and Shani transits ✅ Acceptance of karmic responsibility ✅ Discipline, endurance and long-term resolve ✅ Calm in the face of obstacles ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🎧 HOW TO LISTEN ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 📅 Best day: Saturday — Shani's day in the Vedic week ⏰ Best time: Evening, as the day settles 🔊 Volume: Low — this raga works through weight, not volume 🪔 Traditional practice: light a sesame oil lamp before listening 💭 Don't listen for uplift. Listen for steadiness. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🪕 ABOUT THIS TRACK ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Instrument: Saraswati veena with tanpura drone Structure: Slow alapana — no percussion, no vocals Duration: 1 Hour seamless loop Tradition: Carnatic classical Series: Navagraha Ragas — 1 of 9 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🕉️ THE NAVAGRAHA SERIES ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Nine planets.
