Billie built its reputation as a body-positive beauty brand that challenged the pink tax, unrealistic beauty standards and the way women’s shaving products were marketed. But years later, the brand found itself at the centre of a very different conversation: customers claiming its deodorant left them with painful rashes, peeling skin and even alleged chemical burns.
In today’s video, im looking at how Billie went from an independent razor brand to a $310 million acquisition, the launch of its new deodorants, the complaints that began appearing across TikTok, Reddit and customer reviews and the class action lawsuit filed against Billie and parent company Edgewell Personal Care in 2025.
Importantly, the allegations against Billie were never proven in court. The lawsuit was dismissed before reaching trial, and people continue to use the deodorants without experiencing these reactions. But with so many similar complaints appearing online, it raises some interesting questions about sensitive-skin marketing, how brands should respond when customers report adverse reactions and what responsibility beauty companies have when something appears to be going wrong.
Have you ever tried Billie deodorant? Did you have a reaction, or has it worked perfectly for you? I kind of want to try it now tbh! Let me know your experience below.
