Keyboard and mouse controls suffer from none of the obstacles described. You can also click-drag to move items and perform the inventory reload. Don't forget to change the item menu prioritization from D-pad to Numerical in the keyboard/mouse settings. This makes the game default to assigning your weapons to the numbers closer to WASD, as opposed to the 2, 4, 6 and 8 slots for the d-pad. I don't think RE5 is given enough credit for what it is; way better than 4, at any rate. There is a lot more I could cover, but this should be enough to get you started, or at least appreciate the game some more.
