Unreliable data and inconsistent service have long made connections harder to navigate. In this connectology® episode, Connectologists® Rachael Eynon and Alex Ikonic work through Ofgem’s two latest consultations, sharing what is proposed and where questions remain:
• better data: Ofgem’s Transforming Connections Data (TCD) consultation proposes a new Demand Capacity Register, a demand works register and improvements to existing registers
• a clearer customer journey: Ofgem’s Transforming the Connections Experience (TCE) consultation proposes service level agreements (SLAs), a named point of contact and minimum offer content
• stronger recourse: TCE also proposes higher Guaranteed Standard of Performance (GSOP) payouts and a move away from zero-value liquidated damages, with detail still to come
• timing for implementation: Ofgem is considering whether the TCE changes should start in summer 2027 or April 2028
•time to respond: the TCD and TCE consultations both close on 06 November 2026
Alex mentions a client who found the project status on the TEC register was wrong more than 50% of the time in the sample they reviewed. Since recording, the NESO corrected this within days of the client raising it. That kind of responsiveness deserves recognition.
