A solo play-through of Coast Watchers. I play through Situation B as the Allies, showing the setup and the game play. The video starts with the setup which ends at 20:48. Not that it makes any difference to the video at all but the mystery of the missing Kavieng report has been solved - I sweep it off the board with the patrol bag at 1:13:24. Please turn on Klingon subtitles to check any mistakes I've missed during editing. While I did try my best not to miss or misinterpret any rules I am afraid I did make some which I will note below in this description. Just bear in mind that the final scoring should have been a lot closer than I calculated it to be. CORRECTIONS AND CLARIFICATIONS =============================== 1. 23:37 during setup I take two Japanese patrol markers from the Ready Box. This is WRONG and I should have just placed them out from the mat. The game should have started with the Japanese bot having four ready patrols instead of two. 2. 54:10 when determining where the J-Bot will search, I shouldn't have drawn a Kenpei card as the focus card has Police on it (rule 3(a) under Search on page 7). The J-Bot first Searches at all Police drawing Regions to determine order. There was only 1 Police on the map, at Kavieng, so the J-Bot would have Searched there first. Then it would have continued to 3(b) for the non-Police Searches. With only 1 other Patrol on the map, at Rabaul, I would not have needed to draw a Region card, but just Search there. 3. 1:07:20 I state that the J-Bot will conduct four searches as they have four patrols out on the board, but I forgot that they already used two of their actions to deploy, so they should only have conducted three searches. 4. 1:15:55 I carry out a Resupply but I forget to state the location - it is at Pondo. 5. 1:24:12 Shore Raid only uses 1 Buildup against 2 enemy objectives (see the third dot point in the first red box on page 9. See also the Shore Raid example at the bottom of page 9). The best result for the J-Bot then would have been to use the Rabaul Buildup with the Path going to Buka (via Feni or the circle) and then Buin. It would get 6VP for Taking the Buka CW and the Buin Refugees, while the Allies would get 3 Warning Points (Pondo, Kavieng, Namatani all adjacent). 6. 1:29:25 during the final scoring I state that the Allies got 10 VP for the Kavieng and Namatanai Reports. However, if I had done the paths correctly as described above, the Allies would not score either of these Reports. By sending the Shore Raid from Rabaul, the J-Bot would not use the Kavieng Buildup. Reports of Unused Buildups do not score – see under the second red box on page 11. For the same reason, the Allies do not score the Troops Buildup at Namatanai, because the J-Bot did not use it (no applicable Mission).
