A fog filled morning turns bright and beautiful. The day went from zero visibility to crystal clear in just a few short hours. That is when the bite turned on and the fish went from peckish to ravenous. The surface was teaming with swirls of Rainbow Trout searching for breakfast as the Sun warmed the water's surface. I trolled using the downrigger with a pink and chrome dodger leading a 10" 10lb test monofilament leader to a variety of small lures and hoochies. All tipped with Gulp Maggots. I also used a surface rod with a small cannonball for added depth. Once the Sun gleaned through the top water column the Trout fishing turned on. Although nothing like fighting a Halibut, large Ling Cod, Tuna, Steelhead, Coho or King Salmon, or even large Large Mouth Bass, these Trout sure make for a fun filled and exciting challenge nonetheless.
