A beautiful cooking day in the African village suddenly turned into something completely unexpected when heavy rain came pouring down. 🌧️❤️
In today's episode of Life Of African Village Wife, Ifeoma and Mrs. Okeke set out to prepare a delicious traditional African meal featuring cocoyam and bitter leaf soup, fufu, meat, stockfish, kpomo and other ingredients.
The day begins peacefully as Ifeoma and Mrs. Okeke bring out everything they need for the cooking. Ifeoma washes the cocoyam and places it on the fire to boil, while the strong wind begins to warn the family that rain may be coming.
Mrs. Okeke quickly prepares the second kitchen in case the weather changes. And just as Ifeoma introduces the meal they are about to prepare, the rain suddenly begins!
The rain becomes extremely heavy, covering the village in water and making the entire environment beautifully green and fresh. 🌧️🌿
While the rain is falling, Mrs. Okeke takes responsibility for preparing the fufu. She lights the fire, prepares the fufu and later pounds it traditionally in a mortar. Chinedu also steps in to help, giving her best while everyone continues working together.
Meanwhile, Ifeoma protects the cocoyam cooking outside by covering the furnace so that the rain and strong wind will not interfere with the food.
Even with the rain, there are still beautiful family moments. Ifeoma plays with little Chibuike and makes everyone laugh as she mimics the funny walking steps of an old man. ❤️
When the rain finally stops, the cooking continues.
The boiled cocoyam is brought down, the dirty water is removed, and the meat, stockfish, kpomo and other ingredients are carefully washed and prepared. Ifeoma seasons the meat and begins steaming it while the children help with different parts of the cooking.
Chibueze pounds the cocoyam while Chinedu and Chibuike peel it. Chibuike also takes responsibility for pounding the pepper. Everyone has something to do, and the kitchen becomes a beautiful picture of traditional African family teamwork.
Mrs. Okeke then prepares the fufu for another round of pounding. When she finally brings out the beautifully prepared fufu, everyone celebrates her and hails her with “Akpu anyi eyego!” 🎶❤️
Ifeoma even dances to the rhythm of the music as the family celebrates their hard work.
The cocoyam is then added to the soup together with seasoning, pepper, salt and fresh bitter leaf. After boiling everything together, the delicious traditional cocoyam and bitter leaf soup is finally ready.
And then comes the best part...
Everybody sits down together to eat. ❤️🍲
Just when the family is enjoying the feast, Chisom returns from outside carrying a bunch of fresh plantain and immediately joins everyone for the meal.
This is more than just a cooking video. It is a glimpse into African village family life, traditional cooking, teamwork, culture, laughter, rain, food and togetherness.
