According to sources, a serving police constable of Khyber Police, Kamran, was targeted by unknown armed persons in Shah Kas area of Jamrud, Khyber District. The constable was performing his duty at Khyber Police Lines and was on his way to duty on his motorcycle this morning when he was targeted near Shah Kas Bypass. He lost his life on the spot. After the incident, police started a search operation in the area to apprehend the suspects. Details of other incidents: 1. Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Operation in Tank - 9 October 2026: CTD Khyber Pakhtunkhwa conducted a joint intelligence-based operation with District Police in Tank. According to CTD spokesperson, in the limits of Police Station SMA, Jandola Road area Garah Faqira, after an exchange of fire, three militants affiliated with TTP Bhatni Group were neutralized. Two have been identified as Usama son of Sultan and Suleman son of Wali Muhammad, residents of Faqir Kalay Jandola, while identification of the third is underway. According to CTD, the group was involved in past incidents including planting of an IED near Mira Alam Pump where two police personnel and one civilian lost their lives and seven were injured, and also planting IEDs on main road Wana Bazaar and on the roof of Aman Committee head Bilal's office. During the operation, 3 Kalashnikovs, 11 magazines with ammunition and one mobile phone were recovered. IG KP Zulfiqar Hameed and Additional IG CTD appreciated the professionalism and bravery of the personnel. 2. Jamrud Incidents: On 9 October, a police constable Kamran lost his life in firing by unknown armed persons in Jamrud, District Khyber. His body was shifted to Jamrud Hospital. In a separate incident in Gundi Sakhi Pul area of Jamrud, Peshawar Police constable Bahadar Shah son of Muhammad Akbar also lost his life in firing by unknown persons last night. His body was shifted for postmortem this morning. 3. Hangu - Search Operation: According to reports, security forces uncovered an alleged plan to target police and security forces vehicles on Hangu Main Road. In view of the possible threat, security forces conducted search and targeted operations in Pongai, Kahi and adjacent areas, during which an encounter took place. Initial reports suggest the suspects moved towards mountainous areas with their injured associates while security forces are pursuing them. 4. Orakzai - School Principal Incident: According to police, Government High School Mashti Bazaar Principal Muhammad Iqbal Afridi from Central Orakzai Mashti Mela High School was allegedly taken away by unknown persons. It is reported that the suspects entered the school, took mobile phones from teachers and took the principal to an unknown location. DPO Shaukat Ali stated that a search operation has been started under the supervision of SDPO Mehboob Khan and the incident is being investigated from all angles. Fida Adeel Analysis: Security Analyst Fida Adeel shared details of all these incidents and noted that as soon as the PTI Long March leaves a district, a concerning incident is reported afterwards, with Khyber incidents being an example. The long march spent the night in Peshawar and is now moving towards Charsadda. As per schedule, after spending the night in Charsadda, it will go to Mardan and then Swabi. Meanwhile, possibilities of backdoor contacts and resumption of negotiations between government and opposition are also being discussed.
