The Vine & The Vinedresser (John 15:1) [context John 15:1-6] Sermon-in-a-sentence: In John 15:1, Jesus the vine is the true and only source of spiritual life, while the Father takes care of His people. Point 1: Our Life Is Found In Jesus, The Vine (John 15:1 “I am the true vine…) Because Jesus is the True Vine, believers do not manufacture spiritual life; they receive life by remaining in Him. 1. Where am I tempted to act like the vine instead of depending on Jesus as the branch who receives life, strength, identity, & fruitfulness from Him? Point 2: Our Spiritual Growth Is Under The Father’s Care (John 15:1 “…and the Father is the vinedresser.”) Because the Father is the Vinedresser, believers can trust that His hands are loving, purposeful, & committed to our fruitfulness. 2. What area of my life might the Father be cultivating right now, and will I trust His wise care enough to submit, repent, grow? Point 3: Branches Live by Abiding = Branch-life is union with Christ expressed through ongoing dependence; believers bear fruit not by effort but by remaining in Jesus through faith, His Word, prayer, obedience, Spirit-enabled perseverance (Galatians 2:20; Galatians 5:16-25; Ephesians 3:16-19; Colossians 1:27-29; 2 Peter 1:3-8; 1 John 2:24-28). 3.
